Description of manuscript content:
The text was written in Pali and used for chanting and reciting. The contents consist of various Buddhist stanzas which are useful for protection: the first stanza can be recited for protect oneself from insomnia. This stanza begins with Inda dhammaṃ deva dhammaṃ brahma dhammaṃ […] and ends with ahosi. The second begins with Inda saccaṃ deva saccaṃ brahma saccaṃ […] and ends with ahosi. The third begins Inda nibbānaṃ deva nibbānaṃ brahma nibbānaṃ […] and ends with ahosi. The fourth begins with inda moggaṃ deva moggaṃ brahma moggaṃ […] and ends with ahosi; and so on.

Folio 10 on the recto side: In Culasakkarat (CS) 1225, a ka khai year, on the fourteenth day of the waxing moon of the tenth [lunar] month, the sixth day of the week (Friday), at the time of the morning drum (7:30–9:00), the writing of this manuscript was finished. Thao (Mr.) Thi together with his wife, children, grandchildren and all relatives had the religious faith to sponsor the making of this manuscript entitled Sutmon Thang 5 (5 kinds of the chanting) to support the Teachings of the Buddha to last until the end of 5000 years. Nibbāna paccaya hotu no niccaṃ dhuvaṃ dhuvaṃ (May this be a condition for us to reach Nirvana, constantly and certainly).
