Description of manuscript content:
While the Buddha was dwelling in Kapilavatthu, he delivered a sermon to his disciples describing Dāna (alms-giving) and Sīla (morality). The results of alms-giving and observing the precepts depend on the practitioners. Those who wish to gain lokiya (mundane) results such as becoming a king, an affluent, God Indra, Brahma or an emperor are regarded as carelessness because they follow their own cravings. If they wish to gain lokuttara (supra-mundane) results such as Nirvana, they are regarded as careful.
Colophon:
Folio 36 on the recto side: In Culasakkarat thousand 2 hundred and 50 2 (should be CS 1252), a kot set year, on the full-moon day of the seventh [lunar] month, Monday, at the time of the temple drum, the writing of this manuscript was finished. Sao Thòngdi was the principal initiator together with her children, elders and all relatives had the ardent religious faith to sponsor the making of this manuscript entitled Maha Nipphannasut to support the Teachings of Gotama Buddha to last until the end of 5 thousand years.
