King Bimbisara built a monastery and abodes in his bamboo garden called Velavana and offered the monastery and the garden to the Buddha and his disciples. One night, the king heard strange noise while sleeping which made him frightened. In the next morning, the king asked the Buddha about the voice. The Buddha replied that it was the voice of spirits who were the king’s relatives in their past existence. Later, the Buddha advised the king to make merit and dedicate the merit to them.
