The Buddha was dwelling at the Jetavana Monastery in Savatthi. When the night was far spent, a deity whose surpassing splendor illuminated the entire Jeta Grove came to the presence of the Buddha, drew near, respectfully saluted the Buddha and stood at one side. Standing thus, he addressed the Buddha in verses: many deities and men, yearning for good things, have pondered on Blessings. Pray, tell me the Supreme Blessing. Then the Buddha addressed inverse: not to associate with the fool but with the wise. Honor those who are worthy being honored. Then the Buddha delivered a sermon of 38 kinds of Blessings.

Pa Bua from Ban Hua Xiang, [the sponsor of the writing of this manuscript], I, Chao Phumma, who was the scribe, together with her children and siblings, had the ardent religious faith to make this manuscript entitled Mungkhunthibandit to support the Teachings of the Buddha to last until the end of five thousand years. May all my wishes and desires be fulfilled. May we reach the three stages of happiness with the Nirvana as the ultimate goal. Nibbāna paccayo hotu no dhuvaṃ niccaṃ niccaṃ (May this be a condition for us to reach Nirvana, constantly and certainly).
