Description of manuscript content:
While the Buddha was dwelling in Kapilavatthu, he delivered a sermon to his disciples describing Dāna (alms-giving) and Sīla (morality). The results of alms-giving and observing the precepts depend on the practitioners. Those who wish to gain lokiya (mundane) results such as becoming a king, an affluent, God Indra, Brahma or an emperor, their wishes are regarded as carelessness because they follow their own cravings. If they wish to gain lokuttara (supra-mundane) results such as Nirvana, they are regarded as careful.
Colophon:
Folio 33 on the recto side: In Culasakkarat (CS) 1252, a kot nyi year, on the sixth day of the waning moon of the ninth [lunar] month, the fifth day of the week (Thursday), in the afternoon (12:00–13:30), the writing of this manuscript was finished. Sathu (monk) Khun from Vat Sithan and all siblings had the ardent religious faith to sponsor the making of this manuscript entitled Mettaiyasut to support the Teachings of the Buddha. Nibbāna paccaya hotu no (May this be a condition for us to reach Nirvana). There are 3 fascicles.
