Description of manuscript content:

The manuscript contains two texts about the characteristics and values of the letters of the Arabic alphabet which are used for divination and medical treatment. Text 1: The text is about Ilmu Zairja (from Persian zaicha/horoscope and daira/circle). Ibnu Khaldun calls it magic based on the Arabic alphabet. The text is a commentary (sharḥ) of the Kitāb ‘Aẓāim al-Naf‘ which is ascribed to al-Shaykh al-Akbar Muḥy al-Dīn Muḥammad bin ‘Ali ibn ‘Arabī and consists of 93 verses (nazam). Text 2: The text is about Ilmu Zairja or magic based on the letters of the Arabic alphabet and is a commentary (sharḥ) of the Kitāb Kashf al-Rān ascribed to al-Shaykh al-Akbar Muḥy al-Dīn Muḥammad bin ‘Ali ibn ‘Arabī and consists of 101 verses (nazam).

Other notes:

- The writing is unclear because the ink is corroding the paper. - The manuscript has a stamp of the Rabithah Alawiyah. TEXT 1: Efforts have been made to repair the manuscript with adhesive tape, but this has now become loose and has left its mark. TEXT 2: The text was copied for the first time on Jumādā al-Ulā by Muḥammad Najīb al-Azharī who is usually known under the name al-‘A ṭṭār.
