Description of manuscript content:

This manuscript is the eighth of 12 volumes titled “Ouw Pe Coa.” It is a folk tale that tells the story of Keng Lang, who received an heirloom consisting of a small bottle and two letters. He was advised to keep and preserve the heirloom carefully. However, if he ever found himself in a desperate situation, he could open and read the letters, which contained knowledge and wisdom to help him find solutions to any problem he faced.

Other notes:

- The writing is dominated by the Lontarak Makassarese script, with some characters modified by Liem Kheng Yong. - Initially, this manuscript was rented out to the Peranakan Chinese community. - It is adapted from a Chinese folk legend. - There is a red stamp of the author that reads: “LIEM KHENG YONG-MAKASSAR.”
