Description of manuscript content:

This manuscript is the fifth of 12 volumes titled “Ouw Pe Coa.” It is a folk tale that tells the story of He Yang Ce, who fell in love with Pe Ting Nio, the wife of Ko Hang Bung. From the moment he first saw her, he was instantly captivated by her beauty and kindness.

- The writing is dominated by the Lontarak Makassarese script, with some characters modified by Liem Kheng Yong. - Initially, this manuscript was rented out to the Peranakan Chinese community. - It is adapted from a Chinese folk legend. - There is a red stamp of the author that reads: “LIEM KHENG YONG-MAKASSAR.”
