Description of manuscript content:

This manuscript is the first of 12 volumes titled “Ouw Pe Coa.” It is a folk tale that tells the story of a white serpent named O Pe Co who descended to Earth and took Ko Hang Bung as his wife. This folktale is known as “Li Yi Hong Ta.”

- The writing is dominated by the Lontarak Makassarese script, with some characters modified by Liem Kheng Yong. - Initially, this manuscript was rented out to the Peranakan Chinese community. - It is adapted from a Chinese folk legend. - There is a red stamp of the author that reads: “LIEM KHENG YONG-MAKASSAR.”
