Description of manuscript content:
This manuscript is the final of 17 volumes titled “Ban Hao Tiong.” It is a folk tale that tells the story of Beng Ko Ong, who ordered the guard soldiers to allow Hang Ji Pa to enter the third city to deliver a letter and report everything that had occurred.
Other notes:
- The writing is dominated by the Lontarak Makassarese script, with some characters modified by Liem Kheng Yong. - Initially, this manuscript was rented out to the Peranakan Chinese community. - It is adapted from a Chinese folk legend. - There is a red stamp of the author that reads: “LIEM KHENG YONG-MAKASSAR.” - The manuscript contains repeated page numbering, from page 1 to page 22. - The colophon page is missing. - The back cover is missing. - At the end of this manuscript, there is a list of works by Liem Kheng Yong.
