Description of manuscript content:

This manuscript is the 20th of 21 volumes titled “Si Jin Kui.” It is a folk tale that tells the story of Sae Hong, who walked on the sea or water because the horse he was riding could not move across it.

Other notes:

The writing is dominated by the Lontarak Makassarese script, with some characters modified by Liem Kheng Yong, and features a combination with Hanzi. Initially, this manuscript was rented out to the Peranakan Chinese community. It is adapted from a Chinese folk legend. There is a red stamp of the author that reads: “LIEM KHENG YONG-MAKASSAR.” There is additional text on folio 40v written in Latin script using blue ink.
