Description of manuscript content:
This manuscript is the 19th of 26 volumes titled “Lie Eng Cun.” It is a folk tale that tells the story of Su Bung learning how to concoct a narcotic. The recipe was destroyed by his wife because it was considered dangerous—the purpose of making the drug was to render someone unconscious and then take the victim to another country to be sold.

- The writing is dominated by the Lontarak Makassarese script, with some characters modified by Liem Kheng Yong, and features a combination with Hanzi. - Initially, this manuscript was rented out to the Peranakan Chinese community. - It is adapted from a Chinese folk legend. - There is a red stamp of the author that reads: “LIEM KHENG YONG-MAKASSAR.” - The cover is made from newspaper.
