Description of manuscript content:
Khao padapdin are packets of rice wrapped in banana leaves and put outdoor on the ground in order to feed spirits. The text describes a poor man who was faithful, gave a rice ball he had earned in the alms-bowl of a Buddhist monk and dedicated the merit to all his parents, relatives, cousins and teachers. The results of the merit supported them to escape from hell and to go to heaven. When the poor man died he also went to heaven and gained heavenly property.
Colophon:
Folio 6 on the verso side: In BE 2518, on the sixth day of the waning moon of the tenth [lunar] month, a Friday, at 12:35, [the writing was finished]. Pha Phui Thiracitto, the abbot of Vat Pha Maha That Rajabovoravihan, and the Chao Khana Tasaeng of Vat That (the ecclesiastical head of the sub-district) were the sponsor and the scribe of the making of this manuscript. May the benefits derived from giving the gift of Dhamma be the condition for us to reach Nirvana in the future. Suddhinaṃ dhamma dānaṃ āsavak khayāvahaṃ hotu me anāgate kāle niccaṃ dhuvaṃ (May the benefit of giving Dhamma be a condition for me to be released from defilements constantly and certainly).
