Description of manuscript content:

This manuscript is the 12th of 26 volumes titled “Lie Eng Cun.” It is a folk tale that tells the story of An Hoa dying tragically after suffering for a whole day and night, until her head was finally slammed against the floor.

Other notes:

- The writing is dominated by the Lontarak Makassarese script, with some characters modified by Liem Kheng Yong, and features a combination with Hanzi. - Initially, this manuscript was rented out to the Peranakan Chinese community. - It is adapted from a Chinese folk legend. - here is a red stamp of the author that reads: “LIEM KHENG YONG-MAKASSAR.” - The cover is made from newspaper. - The text on pages 18r to 19v is a warning for readers to always maintain the neatness of the manuscript. It is written on paper measuring 11.5 cm x 11 cm.
