This manuscript is the second of 26 volumes titled “Lie Eng Cun.” It is a folk tale that tells the story of Hua Cu Leng saying that if it weren’t for all of you, he would have abdicated the throne long ago.
Other notes:
- The writing is dominated by the Lontarak Makassarese script, with some characters modified by Liem Kheng Yong, and features a combination with Hanzi.
- Initially, this manuscript was rented out to the Peranakan Chinese community.
- It is adapted from a Chinese folk legend.
- There is a red stamp of the author that reads: “LIEM KHENG YONG-MAKASSAR.”
- There is no back cover.
- The cover is made from newspaper.
