Description of manuscript content:
The word ‘suluk’ comes from ‘salik’
which means ‘getting closer to God’. The
Javanese from Cirebon and Indramayu
understand this in the form of tĕmbang
macapat poems. Sufi teachings have
been changed into mystical Sufi poems.
The people here are convinced that
people are manifestations of God.
However, to reach the level of true
awareness, various spiritual stations
have to be passed. Suluks from the
north coast reveal the essence of the
true self.
