Description of manuscript content:
Chulaphon or Cullapon (the section on the small forest) is the sixth section of the 13 sections of the Vessantara Jataka which consists of 16 fascicles. This Cullapon is the eighth fascicle. The content describes about a beggar Brahmin called Jujaka who was walking directly to Mount Vamka for bagging the two kumara, Jali and Kanha from Prince Vessantara. On his way, Jujaka met Hunter Jetaputta. When he was chasing by the hunter dogs, he climbed a tree. Then he tricked the hunter that he was the royal emissary to invite Prince Vessantara returned home. The hunter trusted him easily and pointed the way to Mount Vamka.

Folio 14 on the recto side: In Culasakkarat 1 hundred 812 (corresponding with CS 1182), a kot si year, on the thirteenth waning day of the eighth [lunar] month, the second day of the week (Monday), a ka pao day, the writing of this manuscript was finished at noon (between 10.30-12.00 o’clock). Phò Thit (father of ex-Monk) Suk and his wife, children and all their relatives had the religious faith to jointly sponsor the making of this manuscript entitled Pali Maha Vessantara to support the Teachings of the Buddha to last until the end of 5000 years. Nibbāna paccayo hotu no (May this be a condition for us to reach Nirvāna).
