Description of manuscript content:
The manuscript contains didactic maxims included with their explanations and exemplary tales.. For example, an explanation of sinful deeds is given by the following tale: There were three siblings ordained as hermits. One day, a deity tested their morality by stealing their fruits. The three siblings discussed but still could not find the right thief. Therefore, they swear to each other. The oldest brother swore to be reborn as a city ruler if he stole the fruits; the second brother swore to be reborn as a viceroy if he stole the fruit; the youngest brother swore to be reborn as a city ruler’s wife if he stole the fruit. God Indra was curious about the swearing and asked them. They told him that the three mentioned kinds of rebirth let people more chances to behave sinfully than other kinds of people. The deity regretfully apologized and told them the truth. Later, the three hermits continued practicing until they reached a high-level state of serene contemplation (Jhāna).
