Description of manuscript content:
This Jātaka manuscript pertains to the Buddha’s previous birth as Cao Saeng Müang. When he grew up, he travelled to many places, was educated, had a wife, and returned his hometown to rule the city instead of his father.
Colophon:
This manuscript was copied from the original version written in Cūḷasakarāja 1261, on the twelfth day of the waning moon of the sixth lunar month, Friday, in the afternoon.
Remark: The date corresponds to Sunday, 29 August 1937 (1299 Sravana 22).
Other notes:
The front cover and the back cover are decorated with black lacquer and cinnabar and gilded with gold leaves. The content has many lacunae as the manuscript is severely damaged by insects.
At the end of the manuscript there is a Pali prayer (Thirty Perfections).
(The inner flyleaf)
