Description of manuscript content:
The manuscript is a Jātaka tale pertaining to Bodhisattva's birth as Vessantara or a prince of Sīphī city. When he grew up, he got married with a princess named Madri and had two children named Chālī and Kaṇhā. Prince Vessantara always donated things to people. One day, he donated a holy elephant of the city to a Brāhmiṇ from another city and was thus driven away by the people of Sīphī. Later, Vessantara donated his children to an old Brahmin and donated his wife to disguised God Indra. After that, the king and the people of Sīphī invited Vessatara back to the city.

May all of you who are young, middle-aged or old, male or female, listen to and profoundly understand the Dhamma. The writing of this religious manuscript is completely done, like the installation of a tier at the top of a pagoda as the final process. May all of you congratulate [the completion of the manuscript] together with me. Remark: The date corresponds to Saturday, 9 July 1932 (1294 Ashadha 6).
Other notes:
The front cover and the back cover are decorated with black lacquer and gilded with gold leaves. The manuscript is slightly damaged. (The inner flyleaf) May the merit derived from copying this manuscript support me [with good things]. If I am still in the Cycle of Rebirths, may I live in a good environment with moral people. May I live morally and gain beneficial incentives resulting from my previous merit-making. If the future Buddha Maitreya comes, may I listen to his Dhamma, attain Arahantship, and reach Nibbāna. This manuscript was copied from an original version written by Care Kò Lī in BE 2452 and sponsored by Phò Sāng Òn and his family.
