Description of manuscript content:
The text mentions about Indra’s message in order to instruct the human beings in this world. The human beings should collect merit by giving alms, observing precepts, meditating, and listening to Dhamma preaching. Thirty years after the death of the Buddha, there would not have any arahants. In Sangkat (Culasakkarat) 1000, King Dhammikarat (a great righteous king, this probably means King Asoka) would support the Teachings of the Buddha and Buddhism would have flourished. After that, it would be a dark era of the era of the devil. Only the ones who follow morality would be safe.
Colophon:
Folio 17 on the recto side: In Culasakkarat (CS) 1265, a ka mao year, on the eighth waning day of the tenth [lunar] month, the second day of the week (Monday), the writing of this manuscript was finished at noon (between 10.30–12.00 o’clock). Sao (Mrs.) Phaeng was the principal initiator along with her two children including I (Ms.) Phummi and Chan (Ex-monk) Kongsi, the three of them had the ardent religious faith to sponsor the making of this manuscript entitled Tamnan Phaya In (The Chronicle of Indra) to support the Teachings of Gotama Buddha to last until the end of 5000 years. May I be released from the danger posed from Mara. May all my wishes and desires come true. May all diseases and dangers vanish. May I have a long life until I finally enter the crystal city that is Nirvāna. Sādhu sādhu nibbānaṃ paramaṃ sukhaṃ (Amen! Amen!, Nirvava is the ultimate happiness).
