While residing at the Jetavana Monastery in Savatthi, the Buddha spoke about a peta (hungry ghost) named Pesakara who had ever been a weaver’s wife. When she was a human being, she was stingy. She scolded at her husband while offering food and robes to monks. After death, the husband was born as a deity living nearby a main road, and the wife was born as a ghost living nearby him. She was living without food and clothes and being burned and painful. When she asked for food and clothes from the deity, the food became excrement and the clothes became hot metal sheets.

Folio 12 on the recto side: In Culasakkarat 3 thousand 4 (corresponds CS 1304), a tao sanga year, on the eighth waning day of the eleventh [lunar] month, Sunday. The writing of this manuscript had been finished in the time of temple drum. Sao (Ms.) Si, [the house located in] the hòm kok chiang road had them most ardent religious faith to sponsor the making of this manuscript entitled Maha Vibak, to support the Teachings of Gotama Buddha to last until the end of five thousand years. May all my wishes and desires be fulfilled. May I escape from all diseases and dangers. May I be healthy and happy in my life definitely. Nibbāna paccayo hotu no niccaṃ dhuvaṃ (May this be a condition to reach Nirvana constantly and certainly).

Folio 13 on the recto side: the text was written with a blue ball-pen in moder Lao script. The text says “I am Maha Kanya Phitsamai sponsored the making of this Maha Vibak manuscript to support the Teaching of the Buddha. May I escape from suffering, sorrow, disseases and dangers definitely. Date 16.3.92.
