Vatthu Phua Mia (story of husband and wife). The story tells in the Buddha’s time, while the Buddha was dwelling at Jetavana monastery in Savatthi, King Pasenadi came and asked the Buddha about what is the supreme act for returning to parents and how many offerings for making the merit. Then the Buddha gave a sermon describing the matter. The Buddha spoke to the king that offerings should depend on what you have and your faith in giving. Then the Buddha gave an example of a couple whose wife had the ardent religious faith in the Buddha’s Teachings. She offered monks all they have. When the husband who was unfaithful acknowledged that he was angry and discontent, he killed his wife causing of that.
