Description of manuscript content:
Matthi or Maddī, Princess Maddi, the Vessantara’s consort, is the ninth section and 12th fascicle in the Vessantara Jataka. When Princess Maddi goes away for fruits. As she is returning she finds her way barred by three fierce animals including a lion, a tiger and a leopard. Having known that Jujaka was away with her two children. By the time, three beasts sent by Indra let her pass. When Maddi arrives back at the hermitage having found no children anywhere. She inquiries from her husband what has happened to them. But he keeps silent. She is very upset, burst into tears and falls down.

Folio 20 on the recto side: In Culasakkarat (CS) 1269, a moeng mot year, on the ninth waning day of the third [lunar] month, the third day of the week (Tuesday), a kot set day, the writing of this manuscript was finished in the morning between 7.30 – 9.30 o’clock. Phò Khamfong and Mae Khamfong (Fater and Mother of Mr. Khamfong)(father) Khamfòng and Mae (Mother) Khamfòng had the ardent religious faith to sponsor the making of this manuscript entitled Maha Vessantara Jataka to support the Teachings of Gotama Buddha to last until the end of 5000 years. Nibbāna paccayo hotu no niccaṃ dhuvaṃ paramaṃ sukhaṃ (May this be a condition for us to reach Nirvāna, which is the ultimate happiness, constantly and certainly).
