In Theravada Buddhism, The Patimokkha is the basic code of monastic disciplines, consisting of 227 rules biding on monks. The text was written in Pali language. The recitation of Patimokkha by a monk in the assembly of the Sangha, takes place in the monastic hall on every full moon and every new moon which is called uposatha day.
