Description of manuscript content:
The text mentions the merit derived from listening to the recitation of the Vessanatara Jataka. People who wish to meet Aryamettai (Maitreya), the next Buddha, have to listen to the recitation of the whole Vessantara Jataka story in one day. Before they meet Maitreya, they will be born only in heavens and in the human world and will not go to hell.
Colophon:
Folio 12 on the recto side: In Culasakkarat (CS) 1285, a tao set year, on the seventh waxing day of the eighth [lunar] month, the third day of the week (Tuesday). The writing [of this manuscript] was finished in the time of the sounding of the temple drum. Xiang (Ex-novivce) Pan and his wife from Ban Vat That village were the principal initiators who had the ardent religious faith to sponsor the making of this manuscript entitled Sòng maha sat to support the Teachings of Gotama Buddha to last until the end of five thousand years. May our wishes be fulfilled. Sādhu sādhu anumodhāmi.
