While the Buddha was dwelling in Kapilavatthu, he delivered a sermon to his disciples and described Dāna – alms-giving and Sīla - morality. The results of alms-giving and observing precepts depend on the practitioners. When people wish to gain lokiya (mundane) things such as becoming a king or a millionaire or wealthy, Indra, Brahma, or an emperor, their wishes are regarded as careless because they follow their own, personal cravings. when they wish to gain lokuttara (supramundane) things, such as attaining Nirvana, they are regarded as careful.

Folio 32 on the recto side: In the year of the Buddhist Era (BE) 2515, a ka pao year, on the third waxing day of the fifth [lunar] month, the third day of the week (Tuesday), I, Chan (Ex-monk) Man together with all my children had the ardent religious faith to sponsor the making of this manuscript entitled Maha Munlanippha to dedicate it to the soul of Mae Thao (Grandmother) Phummi who had already died and gone from this world to the other world. May her soul acknowledge this merit. Even if she had already been exposed to suffering, may she escape from the suffering. If she is already happy, may she become happier until she enters Nirvāna. Suddhinnaṃ vatame dānaṃ nibbāna paccayo hotu niccaṃ dhuvaṃ paramaṃ sukhaṃ yācāmi (May the gifts that have been properly offered be a condition for me to reach Nirvāna, constantly, certainly. May I beg the greatest bliss).
