Description of manuscript content:
The manuscript contains a fragment of the Tafsīr al-Jalālayn, starting with Sūrat al-Fātiḥah and ending with Sūrat al-Isrā’. Tafsīr al-Jalālayn is a book of Qur'anic exegesis written by Jalāl al-Dīn al-Maḥallī and Jalāl al-Dīn al-Suyūṭī. Because it is written by two persons both named “Jalāl al-Dīn”, the book is known as the Tafsīr al-Jalālayn. This work is very popular in Nusantara and still being used, especially in traditional pesantrens in Indonesia.

Tamma hādhā al-tafsīr fīyawm al_Sabt waqt al-Ẓuhr shahr al-Shawwāl fī hilāl al-thāmin fī sanah Dāl min hijrat al-Nabī 1033 wa ṣāḥib al-khaṭṭ al-ḥaqīr al-faqīr dhū al-taqṣīr al-jāhil fī kull al-amr al-Ḥajj Muhammad Hasan Bisri al-mu’adhdhin bilad Benda Cirebon fī al-qaryah al-Mizan. Amīn yā rabb al-‘ālamīn barakallāh amīn yā rabb al-‘ālamīn. Hādhā al-kitāb ḥaqq Hasan fī Gunung Jati Talaga.
Other notes:
The manuscript is bound in brown leather with floral motives. After the colophon information on the owner is stated as: ”Hādhā al-kitāb ḥaqq Hasan fī Gunung Jati Talaga”. The manuscript has interlinear and marginal glosses in Javanese. The text is written with the use of diacritics; text written in red ink has diacritics in black. Referring to the material and watermark, the manuscript was written in the 19th century although the colophon indicates that it was written in the 17th century.
