Description of manuscript content:
King Nemirat wondered which one was more fruitful between giving alms and observing the precepts. After mid-night on a full-moon day, God Indra came to meet the king in his bedroom and told him that observing the precepts was more fruitful. However, he should not be careless in his actions but continue giving alms while observing the precepts.
Colophon:
Folio 25 on the recto side: In Culasakkarat (CS) 1202, a kot chai year, on the ninth day of the waning moon of the third [lunar] month, the second day of the week (Monday), a kot set day, at the time of the morning drum (7:30–9:00), the writing of this manuscript was finished. Xiang (ex-novice) Phomma had the religious faith to sponsor the making of this manuscript entitled Sanok Jataka to support the Teachings of the Buddha to last until the end of 5000 years. Nibbāna paccayo hotu dhuvaṃ dhuvaṃ (May this be a condition to reach Nirvana, certainly).
