Description of manuscript content:
While the Buddha dwelt at the Jeta-vanna Monastery in Savatthi, Sariputta Thera asked the Buddha about the merit derived from copying manuscripts of the Buddha’s Teachings. Then the Buddha delivered a sermon describing the merit derived from making religious manuscripts. Those who had the ardent religious faith to write or make manuscripts of the Buddha’s Teachings would become emperors or God Indra for many existences.
Colophon:
Folio 13 on the recto side: In Culasakkarat thousand 2 hundred 9 (correspond to CS 1209), a moeng mot year, on the second day of the waxing moon of the first [lunar] month, a Monday, at noon (10:30–12:00), the writing of this manuscript was finished. Mòm (monk) Pò had the religious faith to sponsor the making of this manu-script to support the Teachings of the Buddha to last until the end of 5 thousand years. Nibbānaṃ paramaṃ sukkhaṃ (Nirvana is the greatest bliss).
