Description of manuscript content:
The Buddha dwelt at the Anathapindika Monastery in Jeta’s Grove, near Savatthi. When the night came, a deitywhose surpassing splendor illuminated the entire Jeta Grove came to the presence of the Buddha, drew near, respectfully saluted the Buddha and stood at one side. Standing thus, he addressed the Buddha in verses: many deities and men, yearning for good things, have pondered on Blessings. Pray, tell me the Supreme Blessing. The Buddha addressed him in verse: not to associate with the fool but with the wise and honor those who are worth being respected. Then the Buddha delivered a sermon about 38 kinds of Blessings.
Colophon:
Folio 37 on the recto side: In Culasakkarat 62 (should be CS 1162), a kot san year, on the second day of the waning moon of the sixth [lunar] month, a kap nyi day, the first day of the week (Sunday), at the time of the sunset drum (13:30–15:00), the writing of this manuscript was finished. Chua (novice) Sali had the ardent religious faith to sponsor the making of this manuscript entitled Nisai Sapphanavan to support the Teachings of Gotama Buddha to last until the end of 5 thousand years.
