Description of manuscript content:
The whole text was written in Pali and starts with the phrase Sabbāsī visacha-tinaṃ dippamantāgadaṃ. Thipphamon (Dibbamanta) is a series of Khatha (incantation) in Pali read by a monk in a sermon for the audience during auspicious ceremonies: for a new house, the occasion of the Lao New year festival. The first part of the text contains Pali incantations followed by blessings for the hosts and the listeners. The blessing tells that all dangers may be disappeared and you may have good luck and obtain valuable property.
Colophon:
Folio 21 on the recto side: In Culasakkarat (CS) 1225, a ka khai year, on the fourteenth day of the waxing moon of the tenth [lunar] month, the sixth day of the week (Friday), at the time of the morning drum (7:30–9:00), the writing of this manuscript was finished. Thao (Mr.) Thi together with his wife, children, grandchildren and all relatives had the religious faith to sponsor the making of this manuscript entitled Sutmon Thang 5 (5 kinds of the chanting) to support the Teachings of the Buddha to last until the end of 5000 years. Nibbāna paccaya hotu no niccaṃ dhuvaṃ dhuvaṃ (May this be a condition for us to reach Nirvana, constantly and certainly).
